COPENHAGEN BURNOUT INVENTORY (CBI)

The Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) is a scientifically developed questionnaire used to assess burnout and exhaustion.

Rather than treating burnout as a single condition, it measures exhaustion across three areas: personal burnout (general physical and psychological exhaustion), work-related burnout (exhaustion attributed to work), and client-related burnout (exhaustion associated with working directly with clients, patients or customers).

It asks questions such as how often someone feels tired, physically exhausted, emotionally exhausted, worn out or unable to take any more. Responses are converted into scores from 0–100, with higher scores indicating greater levels of burnout.

The CBI doesn’t diagnose burnout; it measures the degree and source of burnout-related exhaustion.
